the stratocratic leader of a burgeoning nation, she ascended to the position earlier than is typical. she is intimidating to both her people and her army by achieving exactly what she says she will. she is known to have a somewhat whimsical side in her personal life.

the son of a political arranged marriage. he prefers to stay out of the spotlight and pursue whatever research he fancies. the most promising of these has been his study of medicinal alchemy, though he had no real intention of putting it to practical use.

a wily operative on the other side of the war. originally a nobody from a poor village, he clawed his way into some standing with the intelligence division of a resource-hungry nation. he's not above using any part of his body to get work done.

the most talkative person in a room. arrogant and lonely.

formerly: vocalist, guitarist, composer, lyricist, and notorious provocateur. his talent and resources were a strong enough magnet to hold his bandmates together until the issues became intolerable.

currently: shrewd businessman and figurehead ceo of his family's record label after his father's sudden passing. deeply unhappy with his life, he decides to make reparations with the dearest part of his past.

the serious and strict sort. ultimately kind at heart.

formerly: drummer, recent immigrant, and right-hand man to sterling's leadership of the band. eager to help at first, he found himself increasingly exploited.

currently: an unassuming accountant with no remaining ties to the music industry. he isn't sure if getting involved with sterling again is a good idea, and yet...

formerly: guitarist, athlete, and the most at home on stage. things were already becoming troubled between hermes and his younger brother caleb; even so, hermes was the fiercest proponent for continuing the band.

formerly: bassist, younger brother of hermes, and top1 harborer of jealousy in all u.s. territories. sees himself as one step behind hermes at all times.

currently: remaining heir to a modest inheritance, he squanders his days alone at home. the easiest to find, but the hardest to convince.
