aiden watched his fire from a comfortable distance. a line of vacant rowhomes, decorative molding already crumbling before he planted the flames.

"you do this for fun?"

a woman stood beside him as if invited. he instinctively flattened his ears and shifted his tail beneath his long coat, but it was much too late for that.

he had never put a word to what he does. "does it interest you?"

she exhaled with the air of someone who'd just taken a long drag of a cigarette. "it does now."

it was one of the only questions he'd ever cared to know the answer to.

PURSUANCE :
bellamy has a way of getting what she wants.

when she appeared at his private membership library with a freshly printed name badge, he didn't ask how or why.

"this is blackmail."

"is it?" she made herself comfortable at the security desk. "maybe i just wanted to work somewhere quiet. easy pay, easy clientele, you know?"

the library was significantly less quiet with her in it.

AIDEN
HAWTHORNE
BELLAMY BROOKS
aiden gave up changing the locks at his house after the third break-in.

"just knock on the front door," he tells her tersely the day she broke a window.

"where's the fun in that?" she stole his key and made a copy instead.

he finds his fridge emptying faster than normal.
it doesn't surprise him when she stabs him, but he stumbles into the wall all the same.

"i could kill you easily," he growls. she stares at him, still holding the knife in his ribs. she'd missed his lung.

when he only stares back, her eyes crinkle into a smile.

days later, he'll walk into the library like usual, and places a receipt onto bellamy's desk. "don't ruin my dress shirts."

"don't wear them at home," she says, giving him an innocent look over her coffee.

PROMISE :
bellamy comes to watch his arsons sporadically, like someone deciding on a whim what to do with their tuesday night.

"what happens when you get caught?" she asks him. emergency services have been responding to the fires faster recently.

"i won't."

she snorts. "even demons aren't immune to a hundred bullets."

"no," he agrees, "but it would take that many."
